Great support of the Israeli parlament (Knesset) to the cooperation between Croatia and Israel

July 8, 2013 – President of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club, prof. dr. Dragan Primorac is officially visiting Israel. During his visit, he met several leading Israeli politicians and entrepreneurs and all of them have expressed their support for the work of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club, a deeper cooperation between Croatia and Israel as well as investments in the Croatian economy.

During his visit to the Israeli parliament – Knesset, prof.dr. Primorac met with the Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelestein who expressed his wish for an intensified cooperation between Croatia and Israel, especially within the framework of the European Union where Croatia should become one of key partners for the entry of Israeli capital into the European Union. During this meeting, negotiations have begun concerning the long awaited conference and forum of the Croatian – Israeli Business Club which will soon take place in Israel with the main goal of raising the cooperation between two countries to an even higher level.

Prof.dr. Primorac also met with several leading members of the government, including the Minister of Science, Technology and Space and Croatian-Israeli Business Club Advisory board member Yaakov Perry, Minister of Welfare and Social Affairs Meir Cohen and other Knesset members.

Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC), was founded the official visit of President Shimon Perez to Croatia in July 2010 and it received great support for its future endeavours. Since then, Croatian-Israeli Business Club has been constantly engaged on developing the cooperation between Croatia and Israel in the fields of economy, medicine, energy and culture and it currently plays a key role for the entry of Israeli capital into Croatia and the entire region.

Croatian – Israeli Business Club is comprised of renowned individuals from the public-political, cultural and economic spheres of both Croatia and Israel. The Club has offices in the USA, UK, Italy, Republic of South Africa and Botswana.

The Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) led by the President Prof. Dragan Primorac hosted the welcome reception in honor of Prof. Dan Shechtman, Nobel prize Laureate in chemistry 2011. The reception was attented by many prominent people from the diplomatic, academic, political and business life of Croatia and Israel. Among many guests at CIBC reception were H.E. Yosef Amrani, Israeli ambassador to Croatia, H.E. Paul Vandoren accompanied by Ms Vandoren, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia, Prof. Pavao Rudan, Secretary General of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, representatives of the top Croatian companies Mr Zvonimir Mršić, CEO of Podravka, Mr Tihomir Orešković, CEO of PLIVA HRVATSKA, Mr Ivan Krešić, Member of the Board of INA, Mr Mirko Galić, former director of Croatian National Television and Advisor to the President of Agrokor, Mr Davor Stern and many other. The reception was a chance to reflect on the successful model of academic cooperation established between Croatia and Israel with a budget of 1 million US dollars available for scientists from the two countries.

CIBC to organize visits of two Israeli Nobel Prize winners next year

New investments to follow the accession of Croatia to the EU

In Zagreb, on December 12, 2012, the Croatian – Israeli Business Club and the Embassy of Israel in Croatia organized their traditional reception and banquet to mark the end of the year, providing a meeting place for more than 200 most distinguished public figures active in politics, media, culture, science, sports and many other fields in both countries. Except H.E. Yosef Amrani, the Israeli ambassador to Croatia and Prof. Dragan Primorac, Ph.D., the president of the Croatian – Israeli Business Club (CIBC), who hosted the reception, many other guests were in attendance, such as Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Milorad Batinić, members of the Parliament Domagoj Ivan Milošević and Đuro Popijač, President of the City of Zagreb Assembly Davor Bernardić, Croatian general Damir Krstičević, President of the High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia Ante Galić, Zagreb Rabbi Luciano Moše Prelević, H.E. Italian Ambassador to Croatia Emanuela D’Alessandro, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Hoyt Brian Yee. The reception was also attended by celebrated Croatian athletes Dario Šimić, Franjo Arapović, Dubravko Šimenc, Nikola Vujčić, Veljko Mršić, as well as managers and chief editors of Croatian media.

Prof. Dragan Primorac, Ph.D., who is one of the co-founders of the Club and its current president, recollected the past achievements of the organization in his address to the attendees. He emphasized how the Club had succeeded in bringing together the leading Croatian and Israeli politicians and entrepreneurs and highlighted the recent visit by one of the most influential and successful Israeli-American businessmen, Mr. Itshak Tshuva, whose assets have been estimated to be more than 28 billion dollars. Mr Tshuva expressed a distinct interest to invest into Croatian fossil fuels industry, utility, tourism, real property development, infrastructure, insurance and finance industries.

H.E. Israeli Ambassador Yosef Amrani said that he was pleased to have been able to witness the realization of all the planned projects and investments in the last year on the Croatian territory by Israeli companies, which have been carried through with a helping hand of the CIBC. He also announced two major investments, one by PLIVA (member of the Teva Group) and the development of a golf course above Dubrovnik.

The goal of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) is to ensure that the cooperation between the entities of the two countries enjoy ever more prosperous cooperation and to provide assistance to Israeli capital contributions to Croatia and the entire region. Members of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club are notable public figures, scientists, businessmen and artists from both countries with its representative offices active in the USA, the UK and the SAR. The members of the Advisory Board of the Club are Croatian and Israeli businessmen, active and former politicians of the highest repute.

Traditional gathering of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) and the Charitable Society CRO UNUM

The Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) and the Croatian Charitable Society CRO UNUM have organized their traditional annual gathering and have hosted 80 prominent members and friends of the Club and the Society.

The traditional gathering, hosted by Mr. Božo Čulo CIBC member and owner of Partner Bank d.d., was attended by many distinguished persons from the Croatian society, businessmen, judges, including the President of the Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia Mr Ante Galic, doctors, deans, rectors, diplomats including Mr Pjer Simunovic, rector of the University of Rijeka Prof. Pero Lucin, member of the Board of Podravka Mr Jorn Pedersen, Prof.  Stipe Oreskovic, Mr Ante Todoric, Mr Jako Andabak, president of the Croatian Employers Association Mr Ivan Miloloža, Prof. Nikica Gabric, Mr. Gojko Ostojic, famous Croatian athletes Mr Franjo Arapović, Mr Zoran Primorac, Mr Veljko Mršić, Ms Ivana Brkljacic, famous singer Mr Mate Bulic and many others.

During the meeting the president of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) and the Croatian Charitable Society CRO UNUM Prof. Dragan Primorac used this opportunity to thank all the members, friends and supporters of CIBC and CRO UNUM for all their efforts and energy invested in many successful projects organized by this two organizations, and expressed his excitement for all the projects planned for the near future.

On this occasion the guests were presented the anthem of the Croatian Charitable Society CRO UNUM named ‘I love you Croatia’ composed by the famous Croatian composer Mr Neno Nincevic and performed by the famous Croatian singer Mr Đani Stipaničev.

The delegation of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) lead by CIBC President Prof. Dragan Primorac participated at AIPAC Policy Conference 2012, organized by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the strongest lobbying organization in the U.S. During the visit to Washginton D.C. the delegation of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC)  met with several U.S. senators, congressmen, ambassadors and politicians including; Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., Senator Joseph Lieberman, Former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Thomas Patrick Melady, Former U.S. Ambassador to Romania Alfred Moses and Nobel Prize Laureate and the 56th Secretary of the United States of America Mr. Henry Kissinger.

The Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) and the Embassy of Israel in Croatia organized the annual celebration for 150 most prominent people from the political, media, cultural, scientific and sport life of Croatia and Israel. Along with the hosts of the celebration Ambassador Yosef Amrani, Israeli ambassador to Croatia and prof. Dragan Primorac, President of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club, this year’s gathering of Club members, supporters and friends assembled a number of prominent people including the President of the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) Mr Luka Bebić, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia Mr Branko Hrvatin, honorary consul of Croatia in Israel Mr Ran Fuchs, Zagreb Rabbi Mr Luciano Moše Prelević, ministers Mr Đuro Popijač and Mr Radovan Fuchs, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Croatia Mr Joško Paro, famous Croatian athletes Mr Dario Šimić, Mr Franjo Arapović, Mr Stojko Vranković, Mr Zoran Mamić and Mr Veljko Mršić, president of the football club Hajduk Mr Hrvoje Maleš, as well as managers and chief editors of media companies in Croatia.

Israeli Ambassador Yosef Amrani pointed out the activities and projects organized in 2011 together by the Israeli embassy in Croatia and the Croatian-Israeli Business Club. The cooperation is to be continued with the main goal of enhancing cooperation between the two countries. The President and one of the founders of the Club, prof. Dragan Primorac, summed up the past activities of the Club pointing out the fact that the Club brought together the leading Croatian and Israeli businessmen and politicians who take part in the Club’s advisory bodies. Prof. Primorac and Ambassador Amrani both announced the “Croatian-Israeli Business Forum” which is planned to be organized in 2012 and aimed to attract Croatian and Israeli businesspeople and investors in order to open new possibilities and areas of cooperation.

The objective of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club is to enhance the cooperation between Croatia and Israel in all fields of human activity and create the environment for the penetration of the Israeli capital in Croatia and the region. Members of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club are prominent people from the political, cultural and business life of Croatia and Israel and the Club has branches organized in the USA, Great Britain and South Africa. CIBC Advisory Board is formed by the leading Croatian and Israeli businessmen, current and former politicians.

Zagreb, 27th October 2011 – Professor emeritus Uri Shamir held a lecture at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. On his lecture he referred to the problems that Israel carries on the management of water resources, solutions that are proposed and a strategy for the future.

Uri Shamir is Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Founding Director (1992-2003) of the Stephen and Nancy Grand Water Research Institute at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Prof. Shamir holds a BSc (1962) from the Technion and a PhD (1966) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He teaches, conducts research and consults in Israel and around the world on hydrology and water resources management. Since 1992 Prof. Shamir has been a consultant to the Israeli Water and Sewage Authority (IWA) on matters of planning and policy, and previously (1967-92) was consultant to Mekorot, the National Water Supply Company.

Prof. Shamir was Chairman of the Israeli Association of Hydrology (1984-1986), President of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (1991-1995), Vice President of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (1995-2003) and IUGG President (2003-2007). He is Member of the Executive Board of the International Council of Science (ICSU) for the periods 2005-2008 and 2008-2011, from the GeoUnions cluster. Prof. Shamir is Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee of the World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP-TAC), the UN-wide water programme led by UNESCO.

The opening of the festival “Israel magic summer in Novalja”

The 12-day festival “Israel magic summer in Novalja” was opened by the performance of Gwirtzman Amir, one of the most famous Israeli jazz artists who plays over 20 instruments and the choir of the City of Novalja. The Festival will present the Israeli culture, music, art and gastronomy to the domestic and foreign tourists and the locals in Novalja.

The opening was attended by the President of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club (CIBC) Prof. Dragan Primorac as well as many distinguished members and friends of the CIBC; famous sportsmen Mr Dario Simic and Mr Željko Mavrović, distinguished businessmen Mr Jako AndabakMr Gojko Ostojić, Mr Slavko Petričević, Mr Petar Šarić and other.

The Festival is a joint project of the Embassy of Israel in Croatia and the City of Novalja with the aim to present contemporary Israel to the citizens and many tourists, but also to the wider Croatian public through music, film, art and gastronomy confirming the Croatian-Israeli friendship.

Along with the support of the Croatian-Israeli Business Club the Festival is supported by CIBC members Pliva (Teva group) and Bilić-Erić Security.
