According to Kyri Baker, a civil engineering professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, any energy asset with smart capabilities that is connected to critical infrastructure, such as the power grid, carries potential risks. Duke Energy plans to phase out CATL batteries from other projects by 2027, but has not yet specified a new supplier for batteries.
