Africa is the second-largest and second-most populous continent on Earth, located to the south of Europe and Asia and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north. It is composed of 54 recognized sovereign countries, along with several territories and regions, making it a diverse area with a wide variety of cultures, languages, and ecosystems.
