Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field with four bases: first base, second base, third base, and home plate. The objective is for one team, the offense, to hit the ball and run around the bases to score runs while the other team, the defense, aims to prevent runs and get batters out.

The innings are divided such that each team has a chance to bat and field. The main actions include hitting the ball, running the bases, catching the ball, and throwing it to other players to create outs. Scoring occurs when a player rounds all four bases back to home plate after hitting the ball.

The game has specific regulations, including the number of outs per inning, the positions of players on the field, and the roles of the pitcher and batter. Baseball is known for its statistics, strategy, and tradition, often referred to as “America’s pastime.” It is played at various levels, from amateur youth leagues to professional leagues, including Major League Baseball (MLB).
